As road racing resumes and running events begin to take their next steps on the road to recovery, we are playing our part to help you get out and get running with a brand new challenge for 2021 - the Semple McKillop Race Series! Launching with Jimmy's 10K on 20th June, and finishing with the Seeley Cup at the end of the year , this series aims to encourages everyone to get back to running, sign up for more races and put your lockdown training to great use!
The Semple McKillop Race Series is an age-graded challenge, allowing runners to gather points according to their performance and the number of events they participate in. Runners will be given an age-graded percentage for each race they participate in - the more races you do, the more the percentages will add up! The benefit of age-graded performances is that anyone can compete, regardless of your age and speed, and everyone has the chance to feature on our leaderboard.
On dates where there is more than one distance event taking place, runners may enter multiple events in a bid to boost their score.
The top 15 runners at the end of the series with the highest overall percentage will receive a prize. There will also be team prizes for the best three teams, composed of four runners per team.
Individual prizes sponsored by Semple McKillop will be awarded to the top 15 in the final rankings. Exact amounts will depend on the number of races but minimum first prize will be £500 as follows.The amounts may increase as more races join the series.
